Mission: The St. Raphael Young Adult Ministry is a diverse and gifted community of 20-39 year old Catholic believers, called by our baptism to share in the Christian mission of evangelization, worship and service. As stewards of this community, we commit our time, talent, and treasure to building the Body of Christ together.

Vision: St. Raphael Young Adult Ministry hopes to create an environment that fosters:

Catechesis
Educational opportunities to help understand the Church teaching on central issues of the faith. The key here is information for transformation (conversion).

St. Raphael YAM & Diocese of Raleigh Opportunities: Spirits and Wisdom monthly gatherings, Winter-fest Diocesan Conference for young adults, Topics at Topsail beach retreats, Bridges quarterly newsletter as an insert to NC Catholic.

Community Life
Opportunities to connect with a peer community for support, fun, and fellowship.

St. Raphael YAM & Diocese of Raleigh Opportunities: Young Adult Christmas Celebration, Winter-fest, Mardi Gras dinner dance, Spirits and Wisdom, parish based game night, dances, lunches/dinners/happy hour, camping/ski trips, diocesan list serve to distribute information about parish activities.

Evangelization
Cultivate faith and conversion of heart and mind so that the Christian cannot help but share it with others and do their part in establishing the Reign of God.

St. Raphael YAM & Diocese of Raleigh Opportunities: Encourage parishes to have young adult Disciples in Mission groups, use list serve to promote parish based learning opportunities such as Current Issues discussion group and adult faith formation opportunities, Encounter with Christ retreats, Topics at Topsail, Winter-fest, Bridges quarterly newsletter.

Justice and Service
Connect young adults with the Mission of the Church in the world, so they act as ambassadors of Christ to all they meet.

St. Raphael YAM & Diocese of Raleigh Opportunities: Promote awareness of Catholic Social Teaching at Winter-fest workshops, Encounter with Christ talk and handouts, Diocese Wide Young Adult mission trips, C.A.R.E. (Catholic Adults Reaching Everyone) service retreats to Williamston Holy Trinity rural parish, Bridges quarterly newsletter as an insert to NC Catholic.

Liturgy and Sacraments
Provide uplifting and inspiring liturgies, marked by a spirit of hospitality and welcoming.

St. Raphael YAM & Diocese of Raleigh Opportunities: Closing liturgy and reconciliation service at Encounter with Christ retreat, Topics at Topsail liturgies, quarterly young adult masses, encouraging parishes to recruit young adults for liturgical ministries.

Leadership
Provide opportunities for building of leaders from the inside (self) out (to others). Empower the giftedness of young adults to serve God and the community.

St. Raphael YAM & Diocese of Raleigh Opportunities: Recruit, support, network with young adults interested in and capable of leadership. Offer yearly young adult leadership retreat, encourage young adult participation in Stephen Covey workshop 7 Habits, offer annual Called and Gifted workshop for young adults.

Prayer and Spirituality
Opportunities to experience different prayer styles independently and in community to cultivate a deeper personal relationship with the Triune God.

St. Raphael YAM & Diocese of Raleigh Opportunities: Rosary at Shelly Lake, Spirits and Wisdom, Winterfest workshop, Topics at Topsail retreat on topic, promoting parish based spiritual reading meetings, Encounter with Christ retreat.
