| Anointing of the Sick and the Health Care MinistryContact Gerry Madey 865.5740 Our Health Care Ministers visit Catholic patients in Duke Raleigh Hospital on a daily basis, including Sundays. We also visit the sick and homebound and those in nursing homes and assisted living communities that are assigned to St. Raphael by the Deanery. We bring the Eucharist and prayer to those who cannot make it to Church. We can also minister to the terminally ill if requested by the family. Training sessions required as is pastor’s approval. Sunday ministers time commitment: 3 to 4 hours. Walk with Jesus and help the sick. Parishioners: If you would like to receive the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, which we strongly encourage before going into the hospital or because of serious illness, please contact Gerry Madey 865.5740 and she will arrange a time for one of the priests to administer the sacrament to you. If you are admitted to a hospital, inform the hospital admissions office that you are Catholic and would like a minister. This information will be given to the church assigned to that hospital. But if you do not get contacted by a minister, please call our Health Care Ministry Desk 865.5740 and we will call the parish responsible for your particular hospital. |
