- Arrange the sacred vessels before Mass in anticipation of the needs of the celebration
- Prepare the area around the ambo and altar for the celebration of the sacred liturgy
- Assist the presiding priest(s), deacon, lectors, altar servers, and Eucharistic ministers in preparing for and carrying out the celebration
- Assure proper treatment of the Holy Species - the Sacred Blood and Blessed Sacrament - during and after the celebration.
- Keep the Holy Tabernacle secure
- Work to assure a smooth celebration of the liturgies
You can serve as a Sacristan. We rotate at daily Masses, weekend Masses, holy days, the Triduum, at 1st Communion, Confirmation, and funerals. Requirements - a registered parishioner
- be approved by the pastor
- 15 years or older
- wish to serve God
Training and meetings are held as necessary. Time commitment varies per Mass: about 30 minutes for daily Masses and a half hour before and after Sunday Masses. Interested in becoming a Sacristan? Contact Sara Edwards 363.0414 |
