Suscipe
St Ignatius Loyola

Take Lord!
Receive all my liberty,
my memory,
my understanding,
my entire will,
all that I have
and call my own.

To you, Lord, I return it.
Do with it as You will.
Give me only Your love
and Your grace.

That is enough for me.

1964 Monsignor Michael A. Carey, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes parish, purchased 35 acres for the future St. Raphael Church. The original plan was for a Saint Joseph Chapel to be built and Lourdes would send over a priest to say Sunday Mass. But in the spring of 1965 International Business Machines, IBM, built a development and manufacturing site in the Research Triangle, bringing enough Catholics to require a church instead of a chapel.  The Catholic Church Extension Society awarded a $20,000 grant to our mission endeavor and asked that the parish be named in honor of St Raphael the Archangel.  Our Lady of Lourdes parish paid for the purchase of the property and for renovation of the 1810 Beddingfield farmhouse for use as the priest’s home and parish office.

I believe , O Lord, but strengthen my faith.

Heart of Jesus, I love You;
but increase my love.

Heart of Jesus, I trust in You;
but give greater vigor to my confidence.

Heart of Jesus, I give my heart to You;
but so enclose it in You that it may never be separated from You.

Heart of Jesus I am all Yours;
but take care of my promise so that I may be able to put it in practice
even unto the complete sacrifice of my life.

Prayer of Miguel Agustin Pro, SJ
