If you haven't previously attended an Alpha Series, this is a great way to explore Alpha. If you have participated in Alpha and are looking for another way to continue to grow in your post Alpha experience signing up to help others is a great way to keep the spark alive. There are several ways to be involved in the practical and crucial "behind the scenes" needs of running an Alpha Series by serving as a co-captain or member of a series support crew or on our office or promotions team.
Alpha series support crews are divided into four "teams". You'll get to know your fellow crew members and have your own time for fellowship. Crews serve once a month on a rotation. You may join more than one crew or serve specific dates if your schedule is complicated. Crew members arrive at Ignatius Hall at the designated time and report to their crew co-captain for instructions and support. Dinner is included.
Co-captains are the lead volunteers that manage the various crews, directing efforts to accomplish a set of tasks. Co-captains serve every other week, alternating with their partner.
The Set up Crew is in charge of the physical space, setting up the tables, buffet, and food service as needed. Following the meal we quietly take down the meal service. Alpha Office Assistants help with the administrative needs of Alpha. You can come into the parish office or work remotely. Alpha office assistants update the weekly attendance lists, send out weekly communications to the Alpha Team, prepare materials for the weekly gatherings, and other fulfill other administrative needs, as necessary. Office assistants work on a rotating schedule, with the majority of the work needed immediately leading up and during each Alpha series.
The Alpha Promotions Team helps spread the word about Alpha within our parish community and the larger Raleigh community. Like taking photos or creating videos? Interested in social media? Enjoy designing posters, fliers, writing, and more? Promotions team members can do any one of these things (and more) to let people know about the great things happening at Alpha. The majority of the Promotions Team's work happens leading up to each Alpha series with some work needed to help capture stories during and after each Alpha series.
