  • 7 Day Ignatian Retreats
    7 Day Ignatian Retreats
Lent is a time of conversion when we are invited to grow and deepen our faith through an authentic encounter with the Living God. Our 7-day Ignatian retreats provide the means to such an encounter. These retreats do not require that you take time off from your regular activities or that you travel to a retreat house. It requires only that you reflect at home for a half an hour each day for five days and that you meet for a half an hour each day with a Ignatian Companion at the hour and place that you both mutually agree on.

Two orientation meetings are available in ENGLISH (choose only one):

Orientation meeting in the Mary Chapel on Sunday, March 5 at 2:00 pm.

Orientation meeting in the Mary Chapel on Sunday, March 19 at 2:00 pm.

  • Care for our Common Home during Lent
Care for our Common Home during Lent
Lent is a wonderful time to reflect on how we can live in harmony with one another and with all God's Creation.

along these lines, the Caring Ministry recommends two resources for those who would like to participate in a Lenten program inspired by Laudato Si: Pope Francis's encyclical letter on care for our common home.

It's traditional to pray the Novena for a particular intention; to ask for what you desire from God.

    • Norms for fasting and Abstinence

Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional disciplines of Lent. The faithful and Catechumens should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and of preparation for Initiation into the Church or the renewal of Baptismal Promises at Easter.

Ash Wednesday, February 22, 2023, and Good Friday, April 7, 2023, are days of fasting and abstinence. Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence.

Fasting is to be observed by all 18 years of age and older, who have not yet celebrated their 59th birthday. On a fast day one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and juices, are allowed.

Abstinence is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On days of abstinence, no meat is allowed. Note that when health or ability to work would be seriously affected, Church law does not oblige. When in doubt concerning fast and abstinence, the parish priest should be consulted.
