December 12th Meeting: Modern Science and Christianity
We will discuss the primary place that modern science plays in our world today and some of the problems associated with it. Christianity has been dethroned from its historical place of authority and plays second fiddle to the modern sciences. The solution is to develop the foundational science that underlie the modern sciences and carry this science into the modern sciences where it is only recognized in a confused way. The speaker will discuss how a group of Catholic scientists are doing the work necessary to realize this integration.
January 9th Meeting: Platitudes and other untruths
Some common phrases get misconstrued for Catholic teachings, such as “good things come to those who wait” or “time heals all wounds”. While they have good moral implications, they aren’t exact Catholic teachings. Fr. Jacob Rouse will help clarify platitudes and other untruths from our Catholic teachings in a fun presentation via zoom!
We don't stop being mothers when our kids go off to college, and neither does our role end in teaching our kids the Catholic faith. How do we help instill a desire to keep the faith between the Sacraments, and beyond? How do we support our kids so they can continue their Catholic faith on their own? How do we handle the big questions if they happen to us, such as homosexuality in our own home? Hear how Fr. John Odeyemi uses his experiences and knowledge from different parts of the world to help us not only teach our kids the Catholic faith, but to give our children the tools to carry on their own Catholic faith as they grow up.
