The Spiritual Exercises and discernment help us get in touch with our deepest self, the space where God speaks to us. Discernment is not only necessary when serious problems have to be solved, it is an instrument of struggle to follow the Lord better day by day and hour by hour. In the 2023-2024 ministry year, our parish successfully offered a variety of opportunities to help people find God, grow closer to Him, and to live His way.
In June and July of 2023, we offered two discernment processes, one for Ignatian Spirituality participants and the other for the Liturgical Ministers, with approximately 90 people participating.
From August 2023 until May 2024, approximately 45 people participated in monthly Discernment Workshops in English and in Spanish.
From November 2023 until May 2024, approximately 30 people participated in the Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life 19th Annotation Retreat. Two groups were offered in English and one group was offered in Spanish.
During the Advent and Lent seasons, we offered two seven-day Ignatian retreats each season, one in English and one in Spanish, with approximately 15 people participating each season.
During the Advent, Lent and Easter seasons, we offered the Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life 18th Annotation Retreat in English, with approximately 7 people participating.
On the Thursday before Holy Thursday, we organized a Seder Supper for 90 participants.
Approximately 10 people participated in the first year of a three year program of training in the Spiritual Exercises.
On July 28, as a part of the Saint Ignatius Day parish celebration, the Spirituality Through Theater Ministry presented a bi-lingual musical play entitled, “The Gospel According to Us”. There are twenty people in the cast, and the purpose of the play is to create community through the sharing of our faith through theater.
